Posts, photos, videos, fake profiles, groups and old accounts that keep surfacing in Google — taken down at the source through Meta’s reporting and legal channels, then de-indexed from Google, Bing and AI answers. Most cases resolved in about 10 days.
From a single embarrassing post to a coordinated harassment campaign or a fake profile using your name and photos, we remove it at the source and clear it from search.
Facebook posts, photos, groups and entire profiles often keep showing up in Google search long after you’d like them gone, and deleting your own account does nothing about content someone else posted or shared about you. Getting Facebook content removed for good — rather than just buried in search results — usually takes a mix of platform reporting, evidence and, in some cases, a direct legal request to Meta.
Start with Facebook’s built-in reporting tools. Impersonation, harassment, non-consensual intimate images and copyright violations can all be flagged directly from the post or profile using the three-dot menu. Standard reports can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks, and plenty of valid complaints get rejected the first time simply because automated review misses context a human would catch.
When standard reporting stalls, the next step is escalating through Meta’s legal and privacy channels, citing the specific policy that was broken: harassment, doxxing, impersonation, non-consensual intimate imagery or defamation. Attaching screenshots, timestamps, ID verification and any earlier report reference numbers usually speeds things up considerably.
For content posted by someone else that you have a legal basis to remove — defamation, a privacy or data-protection breach, or a copyright claim under the DMCA — a formal legal request sent straight to Meta tends to get a faster, more thorough response than the in-app report button alone.
Once the original post or profile is gone at the source, it drops out of Google, Bing and AI search tools naturally as they recrawl and refresh their indexes. If you need it out of search results sooner while the platform takedown is still in progress, a separate de-indexing request can be filed with Google at the same time so the cached result disappears quickly.
Because the underlying page no longer exists, the content also stops appearing in AI answers from ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity, which build their responses from live web pages. That is the difference between hiding a result and removing the reason it existed — the removal is permanent rather than cosmetic.
If the content is on your own profile, you can lower its visibility in Google yourself. This does not delete anything — it asks search engines to stop linking to your profile:
On desktop, go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Privacy.
Under “How people can find and contact you”, open “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your Profile?”
Click Edit, untick “Allow search engines… to link to your Profile” and confirm.
Two things to expect: it can take a few weeks to apply and a cached copy may linger, and it only affects external search engines — logged-in users can still find you, individual posts and tagged photos can still surface, and it does nothing about Pages, Groups or profiles you do not control. If a Facebook page is already deleted but still showing in Google, use Google’s Remove Outdated Content tool to clear the cached snapshot faster. When the content belongs to someone else, or the manual route stalls, that is where our content removal service takes over.

Facebook’s in-app reporting is built for clear-cut policy breaches at scale, not nuanced reputation or privacy problems. Reports are triaged largely by automated systems, so a genuinely harmful post about you can be marked “does not violate our Community Standards” simply because an algorithm missed the context — and re-reporting the same content rarely changes the outcome.
You also have no control over content other people own. You can untag yourself or block an account, but the post, photo or fake profile stays live and keeps ranking in Google. Deactivating or deleting your own account does nothing about screenshots, shares and re-uploads that already exist elsewhere.
Getting Facebook content removed reliably takes knowing which policy or law applies, packaging the evidence the way Meta’s review teams expect, escalating to the right legal or privacy channel, and then filing search de-indexing requests separately so the result disappears from Google, Bing and AI answers. That combination is what turns a rejected report into a permanent removal.
We escalate through the right channel first time, avoiding the weeks lost to rejected in-app reports.
